There's Something to be Said for Being a Joiner

I'm proud to say that I'm a new member of the Romance Writers of America. I'm usually not much of a joiner, but I've heard so many good things about the RWA that it seemed worth a try. I'm looking forward to the annual conference, which is going to be in San Diego this year—an easy drive from my home. But the greater benefit, I imagine, will be the very active San Diego chapter, with its monthly meetings.

Writing is a lonely business at times, and I'm looking forward to networking with authors who live close to me. There's so much value in meeting other people who do what I do. Learning from them through critiques and conversations about craft is one thing. But the bigger thing, I think, is finding my tribe. Spending time with people who understand you is priceless in so many ways. We writers don't all think alike, of course, but we do tend to have our common ground.

In other news, my Kindle Daily Countdown promotion for Moonstone Beach is continuing. The price goes up to $1.99 today—still $2 off the usual price—so if you haven't downloaded it yet, now is a great time.
